Happy 75th Birthday to us...
4 March 2010
Making Music is celebrating its 75th birthday!
At our most recent Question Time event in February, several members asked if we might be able to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Making Music in some way. The birthday will last through 2010 to the end of the forthcoming concert season, i.e. June 2011.
How shall we celebrate?
It was suggested that we might hold a day of performances by member groups at a major London venue in the early part of 2011. Formats suggested included a Come & Sing / Play and a shared performance event featuring a wide range of musical styles and group sizes.
Would you like to get involved?
If a 75th birthday event in London proves feasible, we'd like to make it a big public celebration and a showcase for Making Music and voluntary music-making, raising interest amongst potential new audience and group members. We are open your suggestions - please bear in mind that any event must be open to instrumentalists and singers, any genre of music wishing to participate, and accessible to people of all ages.
Get in touch with your ideas
We'd like to hear what you think, in favour or against. You won't be committing your group to anything by sending in ideas - we need an initial gauge of interest level.
Please e-mail or call us on 020 7422 8294 by Friday 15 April so that we can start to make plans.
We might even bake a cake!
