Funding for choir projects

20 October 2009

Do you sing in a choir? Do you need funding for training and development? Would you like to commission a new piece of music for your choir? Or run a project to develop your choir in some other way?

Choral Ambition - a new fund for choirs

The BBC Performing Arts Fund in association with Making Music have launched a funding scheme for choirs and other singing groups. If you are part of a choir made up of 8 or more individual singers who meet and rehearse towards a live performance, you may be eligible to apply for funding.

The fund is for adult or youth choirs (excluding those funded by Local Authorities) of any genre. A total of £200,000 will be awarded to choirs over the period with a maximum amount of £5,000 available to a single choir. The minimum amount awarded will be £500.

Making Music's office can provide support for London-based choirs, helping to develop project ideas and complete the application process.

Online and e-mailed applications must be sent to the BBC Performing Arts Fund by midnight on Monday 2nd November; postal applications will be accepted until midnight on Friday 6th November. Decisions will be made by mid December, and all successful choirs will be notified by this time.

For further information and an application form please go to the BBC Performing Arts Fund website, who will be able to help you with any further questions.
