£500 plus a free masterclass in fundraising
19 June 2009
Making Music London is offering a special Community Award in 2009-10, accompanied by further fundraising training to help you develop similar projects in the future.
What's the Community Award about?
We want to reward a project that takes participative music-making into the immediate community, with the aim of allowing people who wouldn’t usually have the opportunity to take part, to take part. The result for your group will be having fun and giving something back to your local community… and it won’t cost you a penny. You must collaborate with another community group as the basis of your project.
What can we do?
This is where we’d like you to be creative and come up with your own ideas but, to start the ball rolling, consider these statements:
- A lot of people have never participated in any form of group music-making.
- You don't necessarily need to use your usual repertoire / genre.
- You might be able to incorporate this project into a future performance.
- There are many examples of similar projects to draw upon, from both the voluntary and professional sectors.
Who can apply?
all full members of Making Music London
When must our project run?
any time up until June 2010
When's the deadline?
31 July 2009
What will my group gain from this?
- the opportunity to involve others in music-making and help to show them why it is such a wonderful pastime
- publicity, generated with the help of MM London
- dedicated advice and assistance from MM London Development Officers
- a FREE fundraising masterclass for your group with Making Music’s own Development Manager, Vanessa McClune
- a way of re-energising your ensemble / committee
How do we apply?
Full details are available from the current (May 2009) issue of London Harmony, which is downloadable from this website. It tells you what we'll be looking for in a proposal and how to apply.
You are very welcome to e-mail Heather and Tom to discuss an application before submitting it, or phone 020 7422 8294. We'll be happy to help you formulate and shape your ideas, if necessary, into a viable project - in this case initial ideas can be more important than fully formed details. We look forward to hearing from you.
