Learn Indian percussion for FREE and perform at the Croydon Mela this Summer!
Calling all amateur musicians, performers or beginners (with a good sense of rhythm) with a desire to learn Indian percussion... main stage performance opportunity available!
What is on offer?
Are you interested in percussion? Would you like to take part in FREE workshops led by top percussionists such as Baluji Shrivastav (tabla), Manjit Rasiya (tabla) and RN Prakash (mridangam), culminating in a live festival performance alongside 8 professional musicians at Croydon Summer Festival on 1st August?
When and where?
WORKSHOPS are planned at the Asian Resource Centre, Day Lewis House, Thorton Heath, Croydon for Friday 30 and Saturday 31 July.
The FINAL PERFORMANCE will take place on Sunday 1 August 2010.
Who is involved?
You will be taught by celebrated musicians with workshop leader Baluji Shrivastav, and participate in his exciting new percussion project Taal Zindigi (Rhythm of Life).
Who can get involved?
This project is ideally suited to those 16 years and above but open to over-14s. Spaces are limited and we are encouraging groups as well as individuals to apply.
How much will it cost?
The workshops are absolutely FREE but you must book your place(s) in advance.
