What's the plan for the session?
Anyone with responsibility for organising events, conferences or meetings, should attend - for example, theatre managers, general managers, events organisers, fundraisers, stage managers or conference organisers.
This seminar will cover the following areas:
- social model of disability – a comparison of the social and medical models of disability
- physical access – practical tips for carrying out a brief access audit at venues
- publicity and marketing – practical tips for ensuring that all your publicity and marketing is accessible
- meeting and greeting disabled audiences / visitors – practical tips on the do's and don’t's
- current legislative position – using case studies to look at how the Disability Discrimination Act will affect an event, meeting or conference
- checklists – how to develop checklists for you as an organiser and other members of your team or venue staff
- summary and evaluation – including action planning
