What is the Diploma?

The Access to Music Programme provides high quality musical education and performance opportunities for those wanting to get into higher education and who are aged 19 or above. With its eminent history and top quality tutors, Morley College is uniquely placed to provide a high quality, diverse and supportive learning experience for those who might have been excluded from traditional routes into higher education.

Recruiting now!

We are looking for those learners with the passion, proven commitment and skills for our 2010-2011 Access to Music Diploma. Access students have a unique opportunity to mix with students from all over the world, who bring with them their unique musical heritage.

How does the course work?

The Access to Music Course combines practical, theoretical and academic skills at level 3 (A-Level standard). It is set up to prepare learners for entry to music colleges and music departments within universities. The course content therefore reflects the requirements of these departments. Learners will take a combination of courses which would also include options for their first study of an instrument, voice or composition.

What are the requirements?

You need to be 19 or older, passionate and committed to music, have completed 7 years or Grade 6 on your first instrument / voice or composition, have Grade 5 theory or 5 years' experience of music theory, 4 years on piano or Grade 3, and be at Level 2 Numeracy and Literacy.

What is my commitment?

Approximately 16 contact hours a week as well as time for practice, written assignments and concerts, etc.

What support is available?

We are pleased to be able to offer a high level of support to students. Morley is an open and friendly college and we encourage all our students to let us know about their disabilities. Working closely with your tutor, we believe we can make the best arrangements for supporting you on your course.
