Whitehall Choir Choral Workshop
led by the choir’s conductor, Paul Spicer

When and where?

Saturday 22 May 2010, 10.30am with concert at 5pm
at the Church of the Holy Spirit, Clapham, London SW4

Learn choral techniques from Paul Spicer

Paul is a composer, conductor and musicologist and one of the leading exponents in British music today. He sees this day, the choir’s fourth singing event at CHS, as a friendly and informal opportunity to impart tips on singing and choral techniques.

Make great music

Paul Spicer has chosen two contrasting works from different periods: two of Handel’s Coronation Anthems, Zadok the Priest and Let thy hand be strengthened, and Elgars The Music Makers. Fine recordings of both pieces, by King’s College, Cambridge and the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and Chorus with the fantastic mezzo-soprano Sarah Connolly, respectively, are available on Amazon – there’s a direct link to Amazon at www.whitehallchoir.org.uk – for anyone who wants to brush up beforehand.

Who will be taking part?

Besides choral singers from London and elsewhere, the piano accompanist throughout the day is the uber-talented James Longford and the mezzo-soprano is Victoria Gray, a student on the opera course at the Royal College of Music.
