East London Late Starters' Orchestra
String Summer School 2010

ELLSO’s week-long residential String Summer School offers an amazing variety of musical activities for late starters (aged 18 plus) of all abilities, from those who haven’t picked up a stringed instrument for years to the active musician and more experienced player.

What is on offer?

Once again there’s an extensive programme of music-making for violin, viola, cello and double bass (all according to level of experience), including orchestral and chamber music sessions, technique coaching, extra options such as jazz, gypsy music and singing, contemporary music sessions in conjunction with CoMA (Contemporary Music for Amateurs), masterclasses and taster sessions and mid-week tutor concerts.

Many participants come back year after year to experience the fun, friendliness and breadth of music-making on offer from some of the best tutors in the UK. It’s for string players at all levels and ELLSO’s approach is supportive and non-competitive, based on over 25 years’ experience.

When and where is it?

The next String Summer School takes place from 25 - 31 July 2010 at Doncaster College, High Melton Campus, South Yorkshire.

How much will it cost?

With a choice of residential and non-residential accommodation (including camping) and full board or self-catering, it costs from £275 (camping) up to £675 (single ensuite / full board) and there’s a £25-off Early Bird Discount.
