Bring & Sing - join Samuel Barber's Agnus Dei at the Southbank Centre

One of Europe's most prominent chamber choirs and recently named as one of the 'Top 5 amateur choirs' by The Times, the Joyful Company of Singers reach their 21st anniversary this year. To help them celebrate, the choir and their expert choral conductor Peter Broadbent would like to invite all voluntary singers to join them in a massed workshop and performance to fill the Southbank Centre foyer with the wonderful sound of large-scale choral singing.

When and where?

Saturday 1 May 2010, 5-6pm
in the Front Room (Queen Elizabeth Hall foyer)
at Southbank Centre, Belvedere Road, London SE1
nearest transport: Waterloo, Waterloo East, Charing Cross, Embankment, numerous bus routes

What's the format of the day?

The only requirement is that you Bring your own copy of Agnus Dei to Sing from. Peter Broadbent, supported by JCS, will guide the massed choir through Barber's Agnus Dei before leading everyone in a public performance of the piece. You will then be able to hear JCS perform Barber's fabulous setting of Gerald Manley Hopkins' God’s Grandeur - a big, double choir piece.

Why not make a day of it? Stay around to watch JCS's much anticipated 7:45pm concert in the Purcell Room the same evening - an innovative programme serving as a tribute to American composers Barber and William Schuman, with featured complementary poetry and prose from reader Gabriel Woolf.

How much will it cost?

Participation in the massed workshop and performance are absolutely FREE!
